Important Information for Active Duty Service Members
The step-by-step process for how to apply for Hickam
Communities for Active Duty Service Members is as
follows:
Step 1: Review your online leasing guide.
Step 2: Please submit your Hickam Communities online
application with the required documents listed below:
- Military Orders
- Flight itinerary for service member and all family members
- Most recent end of month LES
- If applicable - Leave Form, DA31, Page 2, Surf (E1-E3)
Step 3: Complete the required
Military Housing Office (MHO) Referral Process. Please

Note: The MHO Referral is a required document that qualifies and applicant's eligibility to live in a Hickam Communities home.
- Hickam Communities works in partnership with the Hickam MHO; however, the MHO is considered a separate entity. Therefore, the MHO Referral and Brief should be completed directly through the Military Housing Office before a service member can move into housing at Hickam Communities.
- The MHO Referral and Brief can be initiated if you are already on island or arriving on island within the next 30 days. Service Members must report to the MHO Office upon arrival to finalize the referral process.

Important Information for Other Eligible Tenant Applicants
The step-by-step process for how to apply for Hickam
Communities for Other Eligible Tenants is as follows:
Step 1: Please submit your Hickam Communities online
application with the required documents listed below:
- Retirees
- DD214
- One-month current income verification.
- DoD Civilians
- SF50, and/or future DoD Hawaii job offer final letter (stating acceptance)
- Proof of Income (LES is acceptable)
